I have been a British Sign Language (BSL)/English Interpreter on the NRCPD* National Register for over 15 years.
In addition, since 2019, I have been an NRCPD* Registered Lipspeaker. This means that I can work with a wide variety of Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people who use British Sign Language or Sign Supported English or Lipreading (with or without supporting signs).
Based north east of Canterbury, I can work face to face (across Kent, London or further afield) or remotely (Zoom, MS Teams etc). I have interpreted in a variety of domains such as
– heritage (eg: tours of galleries, historical houses and museums)
– business (eg: office interpreting, interviews, training courses)
– arts & theatre (eg: rehearsals, backstage tours, front of stage stage interpreting)
– community (eg: parent/teacher meetings, medical appointments)
*NRCPD is the National Register for Communication Professionals working with Deaf and DeafBlind People. Every Language Service Professional on this Register has to abide by a Code of Conduct (which includes specific duties around confidentiality). Each person is also required to hold a current DBS search and undertake annual CPD to make sure their skills are up to date.
