My work ranges from functional to sculptural using whichever technique best suits the ideas I’m exploring, but always finding it’s starting point from the natural world.
I generally work with red and white earthenware clay but have also been experimenting with naturally found sea clay and reclaimed bone china.
In recent work I have been exploring the tradition of creating sprig moulds directly cast from plants and leaves.
Originally trained in dance and having worked in theatre and the arts as a Producer and Lighting designer, I have been making ceramics since graduating from a studio ceramics course at the Royal Forest of Dean College in Gloucestershire. I recently moved from Surrey to Kent, and made the transition to full time maker, setting up a studio in New Romney, located by the sea and overlooking the marshes.
I make a range of work that is inspired by the natural world around me.
