Fine Art Portrait Painting Studio Course

A specialist oil on canvas portrait painting course using the Zorn palette.

This eight session tutored course is an introduction to painting in oil on canvas, using principles derived from traditional working practice.

The course will run fortnightly in Sevenoaks on Saturday afternoons with four-hour sessions, 1-5pm.

Two consecutive portraits will be painted from life with separate professional models. One in the first four weeks and the second in the following four weeks.

The course will cover a range of portrait painting techniques, including underpainting, glazing and the mixing of flesh tones from a limited palette of four colours: black, white, red and yellow, often known as the ‘Zorn palette’ after the Swedish painter Anders Zorn.
